Ultimately, when you choose spark combustion over diesel compression you are sacrificing reliability, longevity, and long-term investment on the altar of the appearance of convenience.
Along with what the article points out, it is very important to understand that spark engines do not have the longevity or service life of a diesel engine. Even in industrial products, the dry combustion nature and high temperatures of natural gas greatly shorten the lifespan of an engine. When paired with corrosive chemicals that are sometimes found in natural gas (ex Hydrogen Sulfide) you suffer increased maintenance time/expense, shortened term of reliability, and ultimately loss on your investment.
